- You can join or renew your Transportation Alternatives membership for an additional $20 (a $20 savings!)
Please Note:
There are two waves of riders for the Tour de Brooklyn. Please choose the appropriate wave when registering.
Wave One is a self-guided, ride at your own pace tour. Riders will navigate the route with a cue sheet. There will also be street markings painted along the route. This wave is for riders who wish to move a little faster than the 10 mph average speed of the Wave Two escorted ride. Note: There is no police escort for Wave One, and participants ride on streets open to regular motor vehicle traffic. There will be marshals who ride along the route. Registration is limited to 1,000 participants. Recommended for experienced bicyclists.
Wave Two is the classic Tour de Brooklyn. This wave moves en masse as a rolling parade escorted by the New York City Police Department. While there are no actual street closures, the NYPD and Transportation Alternatives' volunteer safety marshals will block or “cork” traffic intersections to allow the Tour to roll through. There will be occasional stops while the NYPD and marshals secure intersections and gather riders. This wave moves at a family-friendly pace of about 10 mph. Registration is limited to 1,500 participants. Recommended for beginner to moderate bicyclists.
Children are welcome on the tour, but we encourage you to honestly assess your child's skill level, their ability to maintain the 10 mph pace and ride 20 miles. We are hosting the Bike Bonanza in Commodore Barry Park after the Tour has departed to ensure that there are fun bicycling activities for kids of all ages. The Bike Bonanza is FREE. Registration is not required, but preferred for certain activities. Please refer to their web page for details.
Day-of-Registration: Limited registration for the Tour de Brooklyn will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis on the day of the event, starting at 8 am. Event-day registration and check-in is located at Commodore Barry Park (Enter at the corner of Navy Street and Flushing Avenue). Placement is not guaranteed.
